Resolutions
ABmunis uses a resolution process that enables our member municipalities to provide direction on what issues ABmunis should advocate for in search of solutions in partnership with the Government of Alberta, the Government of Canada, or other organizations.
Resolutions to be debated at ABmunis 2025 Convention
As of the June 30 deadline, ABmunis members submitted 15 resolutions, which are available for viewing in ABmunis’ 2025 Resolutions Book in PDF or Word format.
ABmunis’ Regular Members will vote on each resolution at our 2025 Convention & Trade Show in Calgary on November 12-14, 2025. Member councils are encouraged to review the resolutions in advance of Convention so that you are prepared to participate in the debate and voting process.
Emergent Resolutions
If your municipality wants to submit an emergent resolution, our Resolutions Policy requires that it:
- Be an issue of concern to municipalities that arose after, or just prior to, the June 30 resolution deadline, such that members could not submit it as a resolution in time; and
- Have a critical aspect of concern to municipalities that needs to be addressed before ABmunis’ 2026 Convention.
Members wishing to move an emergent resolution must meet all requirements of the Resolutions Policy and provide notice to ABmunis Administration as soon as possible, with a deadline of 12:00 p.m., November 11, 2025. Alternatively, members can wait and bring the issue forward as a request for decision at ABmunis’ Spring 2026 Municipal Leaders’ Caucus or contact ABmunis’ Board of Directors.
