Alberta Municipalities is proud to support your electric vehicle charging needs. Through the Electric Vehicle Charging Program (EVCP), we have funded over 170 new charging stations throughout Alberta. Below you'll find quick links to information that is important to get started on your electric vehicle charging station journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to: 

  • Businesses
  • Condominium corporations
  • Cooperatives
  • Indigenous communities
  • Industry associations
  • Institutions and schools
  • Municipalities
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Others, on a case-by-case basis

Funding will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for the purchase and installation of either level 2 (3.3 kW to 19.2 kW) or level 3 (20+ kW) EV charging stations. To be eligible, the EV chargers must be new, owned by the applicant, and installed in Alberta. All projects are assessed on a case-by-case basis and must meet program criteria.

Funding is available on a go-forward basis. Projects for which construction work has already started or EV charging equipment has already been ordered will not qualify. 

Funding is fully allocated. Expressions of Interest provide us with preliminary information about your project and ensure your spot on the waitlist.
