Collecting Feedback and Data on the 2025 Municipal Election

ABmunis is asking for your help in gathering feedback and data on the 2025 Municipal Elections. Leading into the 2025 municipal election, many changes were made to the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA).  We know that changes made to the LAEA impacted municipalities and their planning, requiring several key policy and process changes. Although key changes included the elimination of vote counting equipment, mandatory hand counting, and the creation of a permanent elector register, we are aware there may be broader impacts of Bill 20, and all amendments made prior to the 2025 municipal elections.

ABmunis is requesting Returning Officers, or others involved in the planning of the 2025 municipal election, to consider how legislative changes impacted your municipality and whether there were elements of the LAEA that created challenges during the election. We welcome all municipalities to share their feedback to help support future advocacy efforts. ABmunis will compile all information and data collected and complete an analysis to be shared during engagements with Municipal Affairs.

To submit feedback, download the 2025 Municipal and Local Authorities Election Act Feedback questionnaire, complete your responses, and email a copy to advocacy [at] abmunis.ca (advocacy[at]abmunis[dot]ca). Any and all feedback is beneficial. If you are unable to fully complete the questionnaire, partial submissions will also be accepted.

To prepare for future engagements with Municipal Affairs, ABmunis is asking for feedback to be submitted by December 8, 2025.
