What to expect at President's Summit on FOMG

Register for Alberta Municipalities President’s Summit on the Future of Municipal Government (FOMG) to participate in interactive discussions on intermunicipal collaboration. The Summit will take place on March 29 and 30 in Edmonton in conjunction with Municipal Leaders’ Caucus.

The purpose of the Summit is two-fold:

  1. Provide participants with practical ideas and examples that can be adapted to enhance collaboration in your region.
  2. Seek input from participants on recommendations to improve the policy and legislative framework around collaboration and on capacity building tools and resources required to support effective collaboration.

The agenda includes panel discussions followed by Q&A sessions and table/group conversations that address the following questions:

  • How can the intermunicipal dispute resolution process be enhanced and expanded to foster more positive and productive intermunicipal relationships?
  • What lessons can be learned from other provinces?
  • What opportunities and challenges exist for collaboration in metropolitan regions?
  • How can intermunicipal collaboration be improved by focusing on good data and community outcomes?
  • How can small communities use collaboration to thrive?

Municipalities from across Alberta are encouraged to participate in these important discussions. Register today.

To get a ‘sneak peek’ at some of the topics we will be exploring at the Summit, you can attend the FREE FOMG webinar on Local Governance in Alberta on February 23. The online session will feature Sandeep Agrawal, who will share the ideas presented in his paper on improving the capacity and efficiency of municipal governments through collaboration.
