Member webinars show municipal leadership
On February 5 and 6, 2026, Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) hosted three member webinars that did more than share updates—they opened space for honest, solutions focused conversations about the real challenges communities are facing across Alberta.
Designed as a forum for candid dialogue, the webinars invited members to ask questions, share experiences, and offer ideas that reflect the realities on the ground. By intentionally not recording the sessions, ABmunis created an environment where participants could speak openly and constructively, knowing their perspectives would be heard and respected
Each webinar focused on ABmunis current advocacy priorities.
- Federal Budget and Funding Infrastructure for Housing
- Family and Community Support Services Advocacy
- Police Funding Model for Villages, Summer Villages & Towns
Across all three sessions, a consistent theme emerged: municipalities of all sizes are responding with creativity, persistence, and care as they work to meet growing community needs.
Participants shared practical examples of how they are adapting. From stretching limited resources, rethinking service delivery, to finding innovative ways to support housing, prevention, and community safety. These conversations underscored that while cost pressures are significant, municipalities are not standing still. Whether navigating rising policing costs, ensuring FCSS programs remain responsive, or investing in infrastructure to keep pace with housing demand, local governments are showing leadership and ingenuity in the face of constraint.
ABmunis captured the questions, reflections, and ideas shared during the webinars through detailed notes and transcripts. These insights have been synthesized into a “What We Heard” Report, which highlights key themes and perspectives raised by members and will help inform ongoing advocacy efforts.
We appreciate the time and engagement of everyone who participated.
