Alberta Community Partnership Applications Now Open

Alberta communities can now apply for funding through the Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) to strengthen regional collaboration and long-term municipal sustainability. This year, $13.4 million is available to support projects that expand regional services, build local capacity, and foster stronger relationships between municipalities.

Before releasing the new rules, Municipal Affairs sought input from municipal associations. ABmunis is generally pleased with the new changes to the program, including:

  • A new Asset Management Support component is available to municipalities under a 5,000 population that do not have an asset management plan
  • The maximum funding amount that a municipality can receive has been increased for several of the funding components
  • Expanded rules for how municipalities can be credited for in-kind expenses under the Mediation and Cooperative Processes component

Application Deadlines for each funding component:

  • Municipal Internship component: October 17, 2025
  • Intermunicipal Collaboration component: November 28, 2025
  • Municipal Restructuring component: January 15, 2026
  • Mediation and Cooperative Processes component: February 3, 2026
  • Asset Management Support component: February 3, 2026
  • Strategic Initiatives component: February 3, 2026
