2026 Resolutions
If you have an issue that you think warrants attention, sponsoring a resolution is an effective way to empower Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) to act on members’ behalf. Members are now invited to submit resolutions that will be debated at Alberta Municipalities’ 2026 Convention & Trade Show.
Guide for 2026 Resolutions
The Guide for 2026 Resolutions is now available and is designed to help inform members about:
- Key questions that members should consider before choosing to sponsor a resolution
- What steps ABmunis takes after a resolution is adopted
- How ABmunis’ degree of work on a resolution will vary widely depending on if the resolution issue is a low or high priority for municipalities
- A checklist to follow so you don’t miss a step

Submission deadline
The deadline for submitting a resolution this year is May 31, 2026. The councils for the moving and seconding municipalities must approve the resolution by this date.
Notify Us!
Email our resolutions [at] abmunis.ca (Advocacy team) as early as possible to notify ABmunis of your interest in submitting a resolution. ABmunis’ Advocacy staff can you help by:
- Answering questions you might have about the resolution process
- Providing input on your draft resolution before you present it to your council for approval
- Informing you if another municipality is planning a similar resolution
- Identifying municipalities that may be willing to second your resolution.
