Title: Utilities Operator 1

 

Department: Public works                                                           Reports to:         Superintendent of Public works

 

Function: to perform duties of a specialized nature related to Installation, Upkeep, Repair, and recommendations of changes towards Water collections, Water treatment systems, Wastewater collections, Wastewater treatment systems. This also applies to other areas within the municipality, Roads, Alleys, Sidewalks, Equipment, Manual labor, and responding to emergencies.

 

Responsibilities:

Regular testing and sampling to ensure compliance with Provincial standards.

Preventative maintenance repairs and emergency response to above functions.

To get certified on all equipment that is required and operate all necessary equipment and tools.

To be able to perform all needed manual labor either as a team or solo.

To use electronic devices as needed and necessary for the job.

To participate and follow directions in the performance of duties as a public works representative.

To record and notify of daily, weekly and monthly changes in all aspects of the job from testing to operations.

To direct public interactions to the office for information or senior staff for problems.

To communicate clearly with all persons that are met in daily operations and reflect a positive experience no matter the circumstance.

To follow and encourage safe work practices while in the performance of duties.

To join in or lead hazard assessment and risk assessment and tail gate meetings while performing regular duties.

 

These are a few of the functions and responsibilities that we ask our staff to be able to perform, we always want safe practices around the clock, so we all go home whole at the end of the day. We are looking for someone who will learn and grow and become a knowledgeable coworker as a part of a team. Full water certification in all four areas is required. With the operation of equipment we will provide training but at least need a class 3 driver’s license from the province of Alberta. When chosen we will be looking for a drivers abstract to be provided by the individual.

 

The Wage range for this position will start around: $29.00 Per Hour

You can expect an hourly work week to be: 37.5 hrs.

Our Public works crew starts at 7:00 AM Monday to Friday
