Tax Clerk

Permanent Part-Time (0.80 Full Time Equivalent)
Tuesday – Friday

Thorhild County is seeking applications for a suitable candidate for the position of Tax Clerk. The Tax Clerk’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
 
•    Responsible for all records and updates to the tax roll.
•    Maintain and balance tax assessment rolls.
•    Assist Finance with mill rates preparation.
•    Preparing tax notices.
•    Responding to public inquiries regarding assessment and taxes.
•    Reception duties, which includes front-line customer service, answering phones, inquiries, and accepting customer payments.
•    Maintain updated County map information.
•    Provide information to the Assessment Review Board by meeting deadlines and obtaining information for the Municipal Assessor.
•    Responsible for tax recovery duties as prescribed by the Municipal Government Act.
•    Maintain subdivision, road, and miscellaneous plan files.
•    Responsible for rural municipal address signs and office supplies.
•    Back up for front office clerk positions as required.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skill sets:

•    Excellent organizational and time management skills.
•    The ability to function in a fast-paced office environment with minimal supervision.
•    Demonstrate superior customer service skills.
•    Flexibility to meet deadlines.
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.
•    Great Plains/Diamond experience is considered an asset.
•    Knowledge of municipal operations would be an asset.
•    Successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Records Check.

The County offers a comprehensive benefit program. Salary to be determined based on applicant’s level of education and experience. Hourly rate range for this position is $31.46 - $40.10. Office hours are Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch break (8 hours per day). Current employees of Thorhild County fulfilling the requirements essential to this position shall be considered for this position.
