Supervisor - Public Works
You’re the person who makes sure things get handled when a snowstorm hits or a pothole opens up overnight—and you like it that way. As Supervisor – Public Works, you’ll lead the crew that keeps Olds’ streets, sidewalks, and trails safe and usable all year long.
What you’ll do
• Plan and lead daily work on streets, sidewalks, trails, and signage.
• Jump on equipment when needed (plow trucks, graders, sweepers, etc.).
• Organize winter operations: snow removal, sanding, and on-call response.
• Work with the mechanic to keep the fleet in good working order.
• Coach and support a small crew, helping them work safely and effectively.
• Help plan seasonal work, recommend equipment replacements, and support projects from tender to completion.
What you bring
• Several years’ experience in municipal/public works (roads, sidewalks, or similar).
• Experience leading a crew or shift in a hands-on environment.
• Comfort operating heavy equipment and a strong safety mindset.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) and Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air.
• Intermediate First Aid & CPR/AED Level C (BL) and Level 1 Public Works Supervisor Certification (or a plan to obtain it).
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and meet the physical demands of the role.
Pay, schedule & benefits
• $42.25 – $47.80 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week.
• Standard hours 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, plus some evening, night, weekend, and rotational stand-by shifts (30-minute response time).
• Comprehensive benefits and participation in LAPP.
