Job Purpose & Responsibilities
This is a permanent, full-time position with the Corporate Services Department.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for:

Updating safety forms, policies, the safety manual and Safety Library

Developing new safety materials and resources

Facilitating the Safety Incentive Program and Safety Week

Scheduling and tracking safety training courses

Managing incident report tracking

Back up for the Safety Advisor when necessary

Conducting new hire orientations and assisting with new employee onboarding

Maintaining employee files

Interpreting and monitoring the collective agreement rules and regulations regarding policies and issues as it pertains to safety

Identifying potential gaps in current HR policies and procedures

Researching related to collective agreements, legislation, and other projects as required
This position is Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for 35 hours per week.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Post-secondary diploma in Human Resources
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Human Resources, preferably in a Municipality or Government setting
- Knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards Code, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong interest in Safety
- Strong computer and organizational skills
- Ability to present to small and large groups
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Valid class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
