Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Project Manager to join the Engineering Business Centre within the Community Growth & Identity Division. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for work such as:
- Leading the planning, design, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of municipal infrastructure and development projects ensuring all work aligns with best practices, engineering standards, and community objectives;
- Managing the engineering, design, administration, contract preparation, tendering, construction, project management and quality control of infrastructure studies, projects, and programs;
- Coordinating the planning, design, construction and rehabilitation of the Town’s infrastructure to ensure these systems are safe, efficient, cost effective & customer oriented, and constructed in accordance with good engineering standards and practices;
- Providing accountability and oversight of consultant and construction contracts ensuring all contractual, legal and regulatory requirements are met;
- Providing planning and financial control of projects including budget preparation, quality control, scheduling, and budget monitoring;
- Selecting engineering consultants, architects and contractors for the design and construction of municipal infrastructure;
- Conducting comprehensive review and validation of engineering design, contract drawings and specifications, and oversee construction and commissioning; and
- Assist in developing strategic plans for the team as it relates to setting annual team goals/objectives, establishing priorities, delivering corporate initiatives, leading change, and promoting innovation.

What you Bring
- 3 or more year’s related work experience representing continuous learning and career progression.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a P. Eng designation; or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Project management certification (e.g., CAPM, PMP) is an asset.
- Previous experience in municipal engineering and infrastructure, tendering, contract management, and project management will be an asset.
- Ability to manage large infrastructure projects or programs and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills; strategic and critical thinking; attention to detail and accuracy; good judgement and diplomacy under pressure; tolerance for ambiguity, complex situations, and competing and changing priorities; and the ability to establish and maintain strong and positive working relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with previous experience working with a variety of audiences (e.g.: technical, management, elected officials, and the public).
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Ability to travel to multiple sites is required.
