Parks & Facilities Lead
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Parks & Facilities Lead is a senior operational role responsible for coordinating and actively participating in the maintenance, operation, and continual improvement of Town-owned parks, green spaces, buildings, and public facilities. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position provides hands-on leadership to seasonal staff while promoting safety, efficient service delivery, and collaboration with all town staff. This role combines supervisory responsibility with field-based work and supports cross-departmental operations, including emergency and after-hours response.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform and oversee maintenance of parks, playgrounds, green spaces, buildings, and municipal facilities.

Conduct routine inspections of playgrounds, parks, facilities, and coordinate corrective actions.

Provide day-to-day leadership, work coordination, and mentoring for seasonal Parks and Facilities staff.

Perform weed control, vegetation management, tree maintenance, and irrigation system repairs.

Carry out general facility maintenance, including minor repairs and painting.

Operate, inspect and perform basic maintenance on Town-owned equipment and vehicles

Actively support fleet care through daily inspections, defect reporting and coordination of repairs.

Promote and comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and the Town’s Health and Safety Policies.

Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours, weekend, and emergency situations.

Assist with winter operations, snow and ice control, and support other departments as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong working knowledge of parks, facilities, and municipal maintenance practices.

Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety requirements

Ability to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team

Strong organizational and communication skills

Ability to operate equipment and perform physical work in all weather conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrated experience in parks, grounds, and/or facilities maintenance.

Previous experience in a supervisory role is an asset.

Valid Alberta Class 3 Driver’s license with Q endorsement.

Pesticide Applicator license preferred, Authorized Assistant Applicator license an asset.

Confined Space Entry Certification

H2S Alive Certification

Standard First Aid Level C

Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 or willingness to obtain
