Job Description

This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day activities of the operations team, ensuring safe, efficient delivery of municipal services to the residents of Lamont.

Reporting directly to the CAO, this position will have strong leadership skills and knowledge of water and wastewater utility operation, road maintenance, and recreational services, with excellent problem-solving skills and commitment to service excellence and teamwork.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing oversight, leadership, and supervision of the Public Works and Recreation departments.
  • Plan, direct and supervise the activities of the operations team.
  • Implementing preventative maintenance plans, fleet management plans, guidelines, & operating procedures.
  • Preparation of work plans on a set interval (Annually, Monthly, and Weekly)
  • Conduct regular equipment and infrastructure inspections and ensure compliance with OH&S safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records related to inspections, maintenance, regulatory requirements, and work completion.
  • Support snow removal, street cleaning, emergency utility repairs, and other municipal maintenance duties as required.
  • Supervise, manage, and schedule employees and contractors.
  • Coordinate and oversee projects.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of budgets.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the asset management & GIS program.
  • Respond to resident concerns.
  • Perform day-to-day activities and emergency work related to operations, maintenance, event support and other duties in response to the needs of the municipality.
  • Create succession and training plans for the operations team.
  • Assist in the procurement process as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required

     QUALIFIACTIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in leading and supporting teams, with a focus on supervision and staff development.

  • Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Grade 12 Diploma, or equivalent.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license, class 3 preferred.

  • Able to provide a clean RCMP Background Check and Driver's Abstract.

  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as grader, loader, skid steer.

  • Experience working in a Municipal setting would be considered an asset.

  • Water & wastewater certification and experience would be considered an asset.

Salary: Starting salary for the Operations Foreman position is $88,000 annually and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A work week will consist of 40 hours per week with moderate amounts of physical effort, including bending, lifting, and walking. Duties shall be performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Occasional overtime may be required. Must be able to work on call as assigned.
