The City of Camrose is transforming into a modern, secure, and innovative technology environment. We are seeking a forward‑thinking Manager of Information Technology (IT) to lead the City towards modern, resilient technology solutions, user‑focused technology services and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the General Manager of Corporate Services, this leadership role is responsible for shaping the City’s enterprise IT strategy; delivering digital transformation initiatives; strengthening cybersecurity, privacy, and IT governance; and ensuring reliable, secure technology services that support high‑quality municipal service delivery. The Manager of IT works closely with the City’s Leadership Team, departments, and Camrose Police Services to align technology investments with business needs, legislative requirements, and community expectations.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):

  • Provide leadership to a diverse IT team through coaching, mentorship, and collaboration, fostering a high‑performing and service‑oriented culture.

  • Lead enterprise‑wide digital transformation initiatives and complex technology projects from planning through implementation and benefit realization.

  • Oversee the City’s IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, cloud environments, and technology service delivery.

  • Oversee and provide leadership for cybersecurity, privacy, risk management, and business continuity within the IT environment.

  • Strengthening IT governance, policies, procedures, standards, and performance practices to support accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with internal departments and the City’s Leadership Team to deliver practical, secure, and user‑focused technology solutions.

  • Manage IT operating and capital budgets, procurement, contracts, vendors, and technology assets.

  • Provide strategic advice to the City’s Management Team and Council on technology priorities, risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.

  • Lead organizational change management associated with major technology initiatives, ensuring effective communication, training, adoption, and sustainable new ways of working.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including at least five (5) years in a leadership or management role.

  • Demonstrated experience in IT strategy development, governance, enterprise systems, and leading complex technology initiatives.

  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance requirements, including Alberta’s Access to Information Act and Protection of Privacy Act.

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

  • Satisfactory Criminal Police Information Check. Must meet additional police security screening requirements for access to Police Services systems, where required.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work are typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The City of Camrose offers competitive salary, attractive benefits, and a positive work environment. The starting salary for this position will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
