Position: Instrumentation Technician (or I&E Technician)

Status: Permanent – Full Time

Salary Range: 53.16 to $57.49 per hour

ARROW Utilities, a Capital Region Commission is a regional services Commission providing wastewater transmission and treatment services to nearly 400,000 people in 13 municipalities surrounding the City of Edmonton. ARROW owns and operates 200 km of wastewater transmission lines, 5 pumping stations, and a modern state of the art wastewater treatment plant located just north of Sherwood Park, Alberta. About the Job Opportunity:

We are hiring one (1) permanent full-time Instrumentation Technician or dual ticket Electrical/Instrumentation Technician to join our Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team. Reporting to the I&E Supervisor the role is responsible for:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting DCS, PLCs and network communication devices both hardware and software.
  • Calibrating analyzers and transmitters, performing maintenance activities on all I&E equipment as required.
  • Interpreting wiring and loop drawings and specifications for installation, modification, or repair of equipment/instrumentation.
  • Apply expertise in industrial communication protocols (e.g., HART, Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, and others) to configure, troubleshoot, and integrate devices and systems within industrial control environments.
  • Maintaining records and documenting equipment condition.
  • Developing and establishing work standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations on planning and materials and other projects

To be a successful candidate, you must have:

  • An Instrumentation or an Instrumentation/Electrician Journeyperson ticket with interprovincial designation is preferred but not required.
  • Dual tickets will be considered an asset.
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with 6 or fewer demerits.
  • Previous experience working with PLC’s and Delta V control systems preferred.
  • Experience with actuators and valves would be an asset.
  • The ability to manage shifting priorities, with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word).
  • Ability and willingness to perform work in all types of weather during all four seasons.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, exercise good judgment, and take initiative.

Compensation and Benefits

This position will appeal to an individual with the right certification and experience who is looking for a stable and predictable work environment. This position is on a 9/ 80 schedule (80 hours every 2 weeks). The hours of work are every Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., with alternating Fridays until 3 p.m. or off as an Earned Day Off (EDO). Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required and will be compensated with applicable overtime rate.

The salary range for this position is $53.16 to $57.49 per hour and will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and eligibility for the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
