This is an incredible opportunity to join a values‑driven municipality and lead a dedicated FCSS team that works at the heart of community life.

About the Role

The FCSS Manager provides strategic leadership for the Town’s FCSS programs and initiatives. You will guide a talented team, work closely with community partners and volunteers, and play a key role in identifying and responding to emerging social needs in Blackfalds.

  • Lead, coach, and support the FCSS team, fostering a collaborative, positive, and service‑focused work environment
  • Build strong relationships with community organizations, non‑profits, boards, volunteers, and stakeholders
  • Identify social trends, assess community needs, and help design responsive, preventative programs
  • Support and promote volunteerism across the community
  • Oversee FCSS programs, initiatives, events, workshops, and community education activities
  • Develop partnerships and funding proposals, and seek grant opportunities to support community initiatives
  • Manage program budgets and ensure accountability and effective use of resources
  • Act as a key advisor to the Director of Community Services on FCSS matters
  • Promote community awareness of social supports, resources, and issues
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to share stories, programs, and opportunities effectively
  • Serve as a resource to the FCSS Board and contribute to reports, strategies, and long‑range planning

Your work will touch many areas of community life — from youth and seniors programming to volunteer coordination and social supports.

  • 5 years of experience in a community or human services environment, preferably at a supervisory level
