Equipment Operator 2 - Public Works

The EO2 provides safe and efficient delivery of municipal services to the public including the operation of municipal equipment, providing on-call after-hours services, general laborious duties related to the maintenance of municipal infrastructure, and various other duties as assigned.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operation of all mobile equipment including, but not limited to, grader, solid waste collection vehicles, tandem dump trucks, sander, street sweeper, wheel loader, skid steer, and backhoe.
• Operation of light duty equipment including, but not limited to jack hammers, line painters, hydraulic and pneumatic tools, snow blowers, and plate tampers.
• Maintenance of the transportation network as required including the repair of potholes, installation of seasonal decorations, line painting, signage installation, tree cutting, snow removal, and other duties as required relating to transportation.
• Provide assistance to other Public Works Departments including but not limited to solid waste and utilities.
• Provide after-hours on-call services on a rotation basis and have the availability to provide overtime support after hours and on weekends during emergent situations.
TRAINING, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Heavy Equipment Operator Certification (an asset)
• Minimum 3 years experience in a Municipal environment
• Confined Space and Trench Safety (an asset)
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• A valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement (abstract required as acceptable under policy by the Town (ie. minimum of 2 moving violations)
• Negative RCMP based Criminal Record Check
• Strong, demonstrated general mechanical aptitude
To be successful in this role, candidates will need to be physically fit for laborious work outdoors and able to lift up to 50 lbs. Only safety minded individuals with proven customer service abilities and a positive team oriented attitude will be considered.
