Due to Growth, our Infrastructure Department is looking to add a New Member to our Team in the role of:

Emergency Management Coordinator

Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services this role will apply the Incident Command System (ICS) and incident management principles and features throughout the full emergency management cycle including training and response.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and Maintain the Regional Emergency Management Plan
  • Apply the Incident Command System (ICS) throughout the full Emergency Management Cycle
  • Train and Develop Municipal Staff in Incident Command System Management to Ensure they are Prepared to Respond to Regional Emergencies
  • Assist Residents in Impactful Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, Planning, Mitigation, Response and Recovery Activities
  • Work Directly with other Municipalities and Regional Emergency Services and Intergovernmental Emergency Management Representatives to Ensure Procedures are Comprehensive
  • Represent the Communities when working with Local Groups, Organizations and Businesses
  • Collect and Interpret Large Quantities of Hazard Information and Expert Materials and Express it in Plain Language

Requirements:

  • Proficient in the use of Incident command Systems (ICS), including a minimum of ICS 400 Training
  • Minimum 3 years of Related Work Experience
  • Ability to Confidently Lead Activities within the Context of Emergency Planning and Response
  • Ability to Maintain a Calm and Effective Demeanor amid High-Pressure Situations
  • Strong Communication Skills in Delivering Information to Individuals and Groups of Various Levels of Understanding and Distress
  • Adaptability in Dealing with Changing Priorities and Focus
  • Collaborative Nature in Training and Mentoring the Municipal Team
  • Exceptional Technical Writing Skills
  • Experience in a Provincial or Municipal Emergency Management Position an Asset
  • Post-secondary Education an Asset
