Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
The Village of Edgerton is seeking a highly motivated, professional, and collaborative individual to serve as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Reporting directly to the Mayor and Council, the CAO is responsible for the overall administration and day-to-day operations of the municipality. This position ensures that municipal bylaws, policies, Council decisions, and statutory requirements are implemented efficiently and in compliance with the Municipal Government Act (Alberta). The CAO provides leadership in planning, budgeting, financial management, and organizational development, and is responsible for the supervision, performance evaluation, and development of Village staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the administrative head of the municipality.
- Advise and support Mayor and Council on operational, financial, and legislative matters.
- Ensure implementation of Council policies, bylaws, and resolutions.
- Lead municipal planning, budgeting, and financial management processes.
- Oversee day-to-day municipal operations and service delivery.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Village staff.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, stakeholders, and neighboring municipalities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations.
Qualifications and Attributes
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work professionally with the public, Council, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Previous management experience, preferably within local or municipal government.
- A Certificate in Local Government Administration and/or post-secondary education in a related discipline.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with R&R Distinct Solutions, Excel, and Zoom (or similar municipal and office software).
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.
- Experience supporting Council, staff, and citizens in strategic planning and organizational development.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with surrounding municipalities and regional partners.

Compensation
