Economic Development in Rural Alberta plan

The provincial government released its Economic Development in Rural Alberta plan on December 14. The following five strategic directions are outlined in the five-year plan:

  • Economic development-enabling infrastructure
  • Rural business supports and entrepreneurship
  • Support for labour force and skills development
  • Marketing and promoting rural tourism
  • Rural economic development capacity building.

The plan includes funding for Alberta’s eight Regional Economic Development Alliances (REDAs), something for which ABmunis has advocated over the last few years.
