Update: Alberta Community Partnership grant
The Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) offers four funding streams to help local governments work together with neighbouring communities to address shared local and regional priorities. Funded by the Government of Alberta, this grant is intended to support service delivery, strengthen municipal viability, and encourage regional cooperation.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2026/27 ACP program with application deadlines as early as October 1, 2026.
For now, it’s good to know:
- Deadline for the Municipal Internship stream is October 1, 2026
- Deadline for the Intermunicipal Collaboration stream is October 1, 2026
- New this year: changes to the Intermunicipal Collaboration stream funding include:
- The maximum provincial contribution will be $150,000, down from $200,000
- Municipalities must now cover at least 10% of project cost
- Funding is prioritized for projects related to core infrastructure, meaning regional plans for recreation and other services are less likely to be funded
- Grant funds will be transferred upfront without a holdback
The 2026/27 budget for ACP funding is $10.6 million, $2.8 million lower than last year because of the reduction in the Intermunicipal Collaboration Stream funding. Learn more about the four separate funding streams and how to apply at the Municipal Affairs Alberta Community Partnership page.
