REMINDER: 2026 APEX contribution changes
As we get closer to 2026, we wanted to remind you about the upcoming changes to your APEX Supplemental Pension Plan contribution rates.
Effective January 1, 2026, APEX will be transitioning to split contribution rates, replacing the current flat rate system, which mirrors the approach used by the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP). This means there will be one contribution rate for earnings below the Year’s Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YMPE) and a different rate will apply to earnings above the YMPE. This change follows a comprehensive review of the plan’s design and ensures that your contributions are more closely matched to the way your pension benefits are accrued. The new approach reflects common practice among other Defined Benefit Pension Plans across Canada, such as LAPP.
