NEW water infrastructure grant

Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (TEC) is developing a new funding model for water infrastructure, and you can help shape it. The ministry is seeking municipal and regional perspectives through a survey on the proposed Integrated Water Program (IWP). Your feedback is critical to ensuring the program reflects the realities, challenges, and priorities of communities across Alberta.

Existing provincial water infrastructure funding is limited in scope and cannot be accessed by many fast-growing municipalities. Many cities face significant water-related infrastructure pressures but lack access to programs like AMWWP and Water for Life, which are capped at municipalities under 45,000 people. As a result, these communities often struggle to finance essential water and wastewater projects that support growth, public health, and local economies.

The ministry is seeking input on the following:

  • The current state of municipal and regional water/wastewater infrastructure
  • Investment needs and barriers
  • Key elements of the proposed program.

By sharing your perspectives, you will play an important role in shaping a funding framework that supports safe, reliable water services while addressing long-term growth and sustainability needs across Alberta.

The survey closes on September 5. The feedback received by TEC will help shape the design and implementation of this new grant program.
