Last call: Submissions to AUC due Nov. 22

Municipalities have until Wednesday, November 22 to complete their submissions to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for a report on the orderly, efficient and economical development of electricity generation in Alberta.

The report to Affordability and Utilities Minister Nathan Neudorf will focus on issues that affect municipal governments, including development of power plants on environmental or agricultural land, impacts on landscapes, implementation of mandatory reclamation securities, and development on Crown land. Interested parties can participate in a number of different ways.

Comment matrix: The AUC has prepared a comment matrix, which can be used as a template to prepare a written submission and does not require a user to have an eFile account. The online template can be found at Comment matrix for inquiry submissions - AUC. Completed submissions will be received until November 22, 2023.

Written submissions: Written submissions can be provided in a preferred format and submitted via the AUC’s eFiling system. Written submissions are also due on November 22, 2023.

ABmunis will provide a written submission to the AUC that focuses on issues that directly affect municipal governments. For more information, or to get involved, please contact our Advocacy team by advocacy [at] abmunis.ca (email).
