ABmunis receives Community Belonging Award

Alberta Municipalities was honoured to receive the “Community Belonging Award” from Skills Society at its annual general meeting in Edmonton on June 26.

The award is given to a business, community organization or group whose actions support the inclusion and belonging of people with disabilities.

Skills Society is a not-for-profit organization based in Edmonton that provides support services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, survivors of brain injuries, and their families.

Jeff Simpson, ABmunis’ Senior Director of Human Resources, accepted the award on behalf of our association.

“This award recognizes the great work everyone in this organization does to make Alberta Municipalities a welcoming environment for all,” said Simpson.

Skills Society also highlighted ABmunis staff member Levi Lawton and the work he has done to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and foster inclusive communities.

“Levi is a leader in the community, and we’re lucky to have him on the ABmunis team,” said Simpson.
