Operator I, Parks

We are currently recruiting a Permanent Full-time Park Operator. This position will be responsible for the maintenance duties of parks, outdoor recreation facilities, and walking trail systems. The Operator I – Parks occasionally provides direction for seasonal staff. This position will assist with other divisions and/or perform other duties as required.
We are seeking a candidate who:

Possesses knowledge of the Alberta Weed Control Act and related regulations

Understands the Transportation of Dangerous Goods legislation.

Demonstrates excellent communication skills.

Has experience with heavy and light equipment operation.

Has the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Has knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in routine maintenance, landscaping, and construction tasks.
Education and Experience:

AB Environment Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 6-months)

A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
-
Minimum 3 years of experience working with weed and pest control. Turf maintenance, tree maintenance, snow and ice control, and outdoor ice maintenance

Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake (Q) Endorsement is an asset.

First Aid Certification is an asset.

Based on a 40-hour work week, the wage for this position will be in accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955, current Collective Agreement.
