ARROW Utilities provides wastewater transmission and treatment services to nearly 400,000 people in 13 municipalities surrounding the City of Edmonton. Our employees work across a diverse range of operational, technical and corporate functions to deliver an essential, regional public service.
There is an exciting opportunity to join ARROW’s leadership team as our Manager, Human Resources & Safety. Leading a team of four across the Human Resources/People & Culture/Health, Safety & Wellness functions, this position combines hands-on HR expertise with leadership of ARROW’s people, culture, learning and workplace safety programs. The Manager, Human Resources & Safety is primarily responsible for:
Human Resources Leadership & Expertise: Serve as ARROW’s primary internal HR subject matter expert, providing practical advice to leaders and employees on recruitment, employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, employment practices and complex people matters.
Health, Safety & Wellness Leadership: Provide leadership and oversight of ARROW’s Health and Safety Management System, including regulatory compliance, hazard and risk management, incident management, WCB, emergency preparedness and continuous improvement of workplace safety practices.
People, Culture & Employee Experience: Lead organizational initiatives related to workplace culture, employee engagement, recognition and wellness while supporting a workplace grounded in accountability, collaboration, trust and respectful conduct.
Learning & Organizational Development: Lead a coordinated corporate learning and development program that supports regulatory, technical, leadership and organizational learning needs.
Systems & Continuous Improvement: Champion the modernization and digitization of HR and safety processes, strengthen HRIS and information management practices, and use meaningful data and reporting to improve organizational effectiveness and decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Hold a current CPHR/CHRP designation.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
- Have demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta employment legislation and contemporary human resources practices.
- Working knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation, WCB requirements and workplace safety practices.
- Strong professional judgment and the ability to manage sensitive and complex employee matters.
The salary range for this position is $138,082-$158,382 per annum. This is a hybrid opportunity, with the ability to work from home up to 2 days a week. We work a compressed work week, based on 70 hours every two weeks, with every other Friday as an earned day off. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and eligibility for the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
