Improving pharmacy access in emergencies
Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) has partnered with researchers at the University of Alberta to explore how mobile pharmacy services could improve access during emergencies such as wildfires.
For municipalities, this work could support stronger local emergency response and identify new ways to deliver essential health services in rural and remote communities. ABmunis members will receive a report summarizing key findings and potential models that could be adapted to other health and social services.
Researchers Dr. Kaitlyn Watson and Dr. Holly Mathias are currently seeking input from rural Albertans on their experiences accessing pharmacy services. Insights from this research will help inform potential pilot projects and future approaches to delivering care in emergency situations.
