Updates on Bill 28 - July 22, 2026
The Alberta Government has asked for feedback on the proposed Councillor Accountability Framework included in Bill 28 and Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) is responding.
The Government of Alberta has held four invitation-only engagement sessions—two with councils, and two with administrators—and ABmunis has been to all four.
We are preparing a written submission with our feedback and will share the draft with all members via email on July 23. As the Ministry of Municipal Affairs is accepting comments on the Discussion Guide until August 7, we ask that you review our submission and send us your feedback by the end of the day on August 6.
We understand that these upcoming dates create a tight deadline, and we are working hard to ensure that your concerns and ideas reach the Ministry.
