Update from the Legislature – June 25, 2025
The Legislature remains adjourned for the summer, however three new members were elected in by elections on June 23. Representatives of the incumbent parties were victorious in all three races. including Alberta New Democratic Party leader Naheed Nenshi in Edmonton-Strathcona. The current standings in the Legislature are now:
- 47 United Conservative seats
- 38 New Democratic seats
- 2 Independent seats.
The fall sitting of the Legislature is scheduled to begin on October 27. Alberta Municipalities looks forward to engaging with provincial officials over the summer months to advocate for municipal priorities including increased funding for infrastructure, preventative services and respect for municipal autonomy.
