Update from the Legislature – December 6, 2023

The Legislature is sitting this week. The fall session is scheduled to conclude on December 7, after sitting for a total of five weeks.

Mid-year fiscal update

The Government of Alberta released its mid-year fiscal update on November 30. Buoyed by higher income tax revenue and bitumen royalties, provincial revenue for 2023-24 is forecast at $74.3 billion – $3.7 billion higher than projected in Budget 2023. The projected surplus is now $5.5 billion, an increase of $3.2 billion from Budget 2023.
