Update from the legislature – December 3, 2025
The legislature is in session this week, and is expected to sit as late as December 11, two weeks beyond the original session end date of November 27.
Q2 Fiscal Update released
On November 27, the second-quarter fiscal update was released. At $6.4 billion, the Government of Alberta’s projected deficit remains in line with the projection in the first quarter update, and $1.3 billion higher than estimated in Budget 2026. The increase in the deficit is driven by lower total revenue, which is forecast at $73 billion, down $1.2 billion from Budget 2025. Total expense is forecast at $79.4 billion, up only $52 million from budget 2025.
