Update from the Legislature – April 16, 2025
The Legislature is in session this week and on a constituency break next week.
Bill 50, the Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act, 2025, was introduced on April 8. The omnibus bill makes amendments to the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA), Municipal Government Act (MGA), the New Home Buyer Protection Act (NHBPA) and the Safety Codes Act. Alberta Municipalities is currently reviewing the legislation and analyzing it. The association's detailed analysis will be shared with members next week. Click here for our preliminary thoughts.
