Register for Summer MLC: new FoMG draft

Join Alberta Municipalities at Summer Municipal Leaders Caucus (MLC) to provide feedback on the Draft Recommendations for the Future of Intermunicipal Collaboration.

The findings of ABmunis’ Future of Municipal Government (FOMG) project point to the importance of collaboration to building thriving communities. Municipalities of all sizes and types from across Alberta discussed collaboration at our President’s Summit on FOMG in late March 2023. The draft recommendations are informed by these discussions.

The recommendations focus on opportunities for:

• The provincial government to enhance legislation, policy, and funding supports for collaboration.
• Municipal associations to model collaboration and provide guidance and capacity-building support.
• Municipalities to learn from successes and challenges to enhance their collaborations.

ABmunis also welcomes written feedback on the draft recommendations. Submit any questions, concerns, or additional ideas advocacy [at] abmunis.ca (via e-mail). The recommendations will be updated based on the feedback we receive. An updated version of the recommendations will be released in September to inform our ongoing work with Municipal Affairs and other municipal associations to support enhanced collaboration.
