If you haven’t already participated in one of this year’s Summer Municipal Leaders’ Caucus (MLC) sessions, don’t worry, there's still time to attend our last in-person session. 

Members will gather in Peace River on Friday, September 19, to connect with their fellow municipal officials, share best practices, discuss issues that affect Alberta’s communities, and expand their professional networks. 

Highlights from the agenda include: 

  • Provincial budget priorities & advocacy campaigns. This session will provide an overview of ABmunis’ priorities in the run-up to the introduction of the 2026-27 provincial budget in February 2026 and seek your feedback and support to amplify our advocacy
  • Tools to support intermunicipal collaboration. Learn about the new rules for intermunicipal collaboration framework (ICF) agreements and provide your suggestions on the support your municipality needs.
  • Water consultation micro-session. This session will recap the provincial government’s recent Water Availability engagements and provide an overview of ABmunis’ new Getting Started Guide. 

Updates will be provided on the provincial government’s engagement events on a wide range of municipal topics, including the police funding model, planning for school sites, the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and more. 

The event will conclude with a report from President Gandam and a community roundtable discussion.
