New support available to help Alberta communities build climate-resilient infrastructure

Communities that are planning capital projects now have access to expertise that can help make their infrastructure more resilient to climate change – at no cost to them.

The Climate Ready Infrastructure Service (CRIS) connects smaller Canadian communities – those with populations of up to 30,000 – with hands-on guidance from climate and infrastructure experts. Delivered in Alberta by NAMS Canada, a trusted leader in asset management, the initiative is funded by the Government of Canada and comes with no matching funds, fees, or application barriers. It’s an opportunity to get expert planning assistance without financial or administrative hurdles.

Whether your community is facing climate impacts, rising energy emissions, or long-term infrastructure challenges, CRIS provides practical, on-the-ground help to build stronger, more future-ready systems. The service offers:

  • Customized support to address climate risks and resilience
  • Expertise on integrating climate and energy considerations into infrastructure design
  • Help aligning projects with service-level expectations and community priorities
  • On-the-ground help, including technical planning and council presentation support.

Alberta Municipalities encourages eligible members to complete a short survey to outline their communities’ priorities and see how CRIS can help future-proof their infrastructure. For more information, visit the NAMS Canada Website.
