Expression of interest: Adaptation Implementation cohort
Alberta Municipalities is seeking expressions of interest from municipalities and Indigenous governments to participate in the Adaptation Implementation Cohort.
Designed to help communities move from planning to implementation while building long-term capacity in project delivery, governance, stakeholder engagement, equity integration, and monitoring and evaluation, this cohort includes access to up to $100,000 in project funding to implement climate adaptation projects that improve community resilience. Projects may address climate risks such as wildfire smoke, extreme heat, flooding, or drought through measures including facility upgrades, cooling and clean air improvements, shade structures, tree planting, and other resilience-enhancing initiatives.
Project initiation may begin in June 2027 and must end by May 2029.
In addition to project funding, participants will participate in cohort sessions to gain practical skills in project implementation, governance, equity integration, stakeholder engagement, communications, monitoring and evaluation, and long-term resilience planning.
Selected participants will be required to contribute a $10,000 cohort participation fee and demonstrate organizational commitment through a signed Letter of Commitment from their local government.
This Expression of Interest is intended to help Alberta Municipalities identify communities with promising projects and a strong commitment to implementation. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to provide additional information before final cohort participants are selected.
There are only five positions open for this opportunity, so submit your expression of interest today!
Expression of Interest Deadline: October 30, 2026
