ASCHA conference: Putting home at the heart of housing
Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) both sponsored and had a strong delegation at Alberta Seniors and Community Housing Association’s (ASCHA) annual conference. Not only did we have staff attend, but we had Board representation and many members in attendance due to their roles as part of housing management bodies.
This year’s theme, Home for Housing, was reflected in almost every session. Attendees came together to advocate for their communities and support housing solutions that meet residents’ needs.
Sessions ranged from strong plenary panels with experienced housing professionals from across the country, workshops on how to better support community housing works, to practical spaces where ASCHA members were able to ask concrete questions of government officials.
The closing session was a panel with residents in community and seniors housing, each sharing their experiences and what home means to them. It was a fitting conclusion to a conference focused on housing, centring the voices of those directly impacted by community and affordable housing.
Stay tuned for a forthcoming joint webinar with ASCHA on Housing Governance for Elected Officials!
