ABmunis news release: Vote on October 19

Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) shared a news release encouraging all eligible Albertans to exercise their democratic right to vote in the October 19 provincial referendum.

We acknowledge that Albertans hold a wide range of views on the 10 referendum questions, and that many people want their voices heard. At the same time, we’re concerned about the uncertainty ongoing discussions about Alberta’s potential separation from the rest of Canada are causing for communities, businesses, workers, and investors.

Despite this, municipal leaders from ABmunis’ 264 member communities remain focused on serving residents and delivering the services people rely on every day. Local governments maintain roads and water systems, support local businesses, plan for growth, and help create vibrant communities where people can live, work, and thrive.

We believe cooperation, respect, and strong relationships between all orders of government are the best way to solve problems and create opportunities for Alberta communities. That’s why we remain committed to working with partners across Canada to advance local priorities and achieve better results for residents.

Above all, ABmunis encourages eligible Albertans to participate in the democratic process and cast their ballots. More information is available through Elections Alberta.
