ABmunis achieves Top Employer status!

Alberta Municipalities is proud to announce it has been named one of the province’s top employers for the first time ever!

The 'Alberta’s Top Employer' designation is awarded annually by Mediacorp Canada Inc.

"Many of this year's winners offer flexible work options to help employees balance their commitments outside the workplace,” said Mediacorp managing editor Krista Leung in a January 30 news release. “Families are often welcome at corporate events and social activities, allowing employees to foster meaningful social connections and build their community."

Here are some of the reasons why Alberta Municipalities was among the 80 employers selected for 2024:

  • Employees are provided with the tools and resources needed to prioritize their health and wellness, including access to the Wellable app, which features wellness challenges and health content on demand and coverage for mental health care as part of its benefits plan.
  • Employees who want to start a family are supported with maternity and parental leave top-up for new and adoptive parents, to 100 per cent of salary for up to 12 weeks. New parents are offered the option to phase-in their return to work, gradually increasing hours to help with the transition.
  • Employees are encouraged to be lifelong learners with in-house and online training programs, as well as tuition subsidies for courses taken externally (with no set maximum per year).
  • Employees looking to take the next step in their careers have access to leadership development programs.

Alberta Innovates, the ATCO Group, EPCOR Utilities, NAIT, SAIT, the University of Calgary, Parkland County and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo are just some of the 79 other Alberta-based employers to receive this prestigious designation.

ABmunis’ Board of Directors and executive leadership team are delighted to be recognized for their ongoing work to provide employees with the support, tools, conditions and workplace culture they need to meet and exceed our members’ expectations.
