2025 Resolutions Book is now available
This year, ABmunis members have submitted 15 resolutions that will be presented at ABmunis' 2025 Convention & Trade Show in Calgary on November 12-14.
The 2025 Resolutions Book is now available on our resolutions webpage in PDF or Word versions. The 2025 Resolutions Book features:
- How to participate in our resolutions session
- What happens after a resolution is passed
- The 15 resolutions that will be voted on by ABmunis Regular Members
All elected officials from Regular Member municipalities are eligible to vote on resolutions but must be registered for the Convention.
New Briefing Template for Administrations
To help present the 2025 Resolutions Book to your council, we have created a new templated briefing note that administrations can use as part of their new council orientation.
Changes to Our Resolutions Debate Process
ABmunis has made two updates to our Resolutions Policy to help streamline debate during the Resolutions Session at Convention:
- When members come to the microphone to speak to a resolution, they will have 1.5 minutes (90 seconds) to speak. Previously, it was two minutes. The mover of a resolution will still have two minutes to make opening remarks for the resolution.
- Debate on a resolution has a set time limit: after eight members speak to a resolution, the Resolutions Chair will call a vote to extend debate. If extended, up to eight more members may speak before the debate closes automatically. Debate still ends automatically if no one stands at the opposition microphone.
We encourage all member councils to review the 2025 Resolutions Book in advance of Convention so you are prepared to participate in the debate and voting process. Questions about ABmunis’ resolutions can be resolutions [at] abmunis.ca ()resolutions [at] abmunis.ca (emailed to us).
