Your Opportunity to Lead:
The Town of Drumheller is seeking a strategic and community-minded leader to join our team as Manager of Planning & Development. Reporting to the Director of Recreation & Community Services, this exciting leadership opportunity plays a key role in shaping Drumheller's future by guiding responsible growth, supporting economic development, and ensuring planning and development services are responsive, innovative, and customer focused. As a member of the leadership team, you will provide direction and oversight for municipal planning, development, and safety codes services while working closely with Council, developers, residents, businesses, and community stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to influence long-term growth strategies, lead complex projects, and contribute to the continued success of one of Alberta's most unique and dynamic communities.
Key Areas of Leadership:
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Planning & Development team, fostering a collaborative, service-focused culture while supporting employee growth and performance.
- Lead the delivery of planning, development, subdivision, permitting, and safety codes services, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, municipal policies, and best practices.
- Support Drumheller's future growth by leading statutory planning initiatives, policy development, bylaws, and long-term development strategies aligned with Council priorities and community needs.
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to Council, stakeholders, developers, and the public while navigating complex planning and development matters.
- Champion continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and cross-department collaboration to enhance service delivery and support community development.
Position Details:
- Employment Category: Permanent Full Time
- Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours per Week (Monday to Friday)
- Compensation: $93,541.98 - $118,747.87 per annum.
