Key Responsibilities:
- Manage executive scheduling, correspondence, briefing materials, workflow tracking, delegations, and Council Action Directives on behalf of the CAO.

- Oversee the legislative lifecycle of bylaws, statutory notices, public hearings, proclamations, and municipal agreements.
- Administer the Privacy Management Program, process formal privacy requests, and manage corporate record retention schedules.
- Assist with municipal elections/censuses, interdepartmental projects, policy research, and administrative guidance.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Business Administration, Political Science, Legal Administration, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of experience and education).
- NACLAA completion or active enrollment preferred; formal training in privacy management, parliamentary procedure, and minute-taking is an asset.
- 5+ years of progressive administrative experience, including at least 2 years in municipal government and direct experience supporting executive leadership, preparing agendas, and taking official minutes.
- Strong working knowledge of the Alberta Municipal Government Act (MGA) and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA). Advanced MS 365 skills and top-tier political acumen/discretion.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, satisfactory Criminal Record Check, and willingness to attend regular evening Council meetings.
Smoky Lake County would like to thank all applicants in advance for their interest; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
