Bill 50 & 51 Updates for Municipal School Site Planning Webinar

Event Summary

ABmunis members are invited to attend an upcoming webinar featuring representatives from Alberta Infrastructure, Alberta Education, and Alberta Municipal Affairs on recent amendments to Bill 50 and Bill 51 and their implications for school site planning across the province. 

This session will provide a walkthrough of the Municipalities’ Guide to School Capital Planning, outlining key roles and responsibilities for municipalities in supporting school projects. Topics will include site readiness requirements, zoning and servicing expectations, coordination with school authorities, and updates to the real property ownership model. The discussion will also highlight the importance of Joint Use and Planning Agreements (JUPAs) and ongoing collaboration to help advance projects efficiently. 

This session is well suited for both municipal staff and elected officials looking to better understand their role in the evolving school capital planning process. 

Taking place on May 6 at 12:00 p.m., the webinar will include a 30-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session.
