Webinars: Foreign Influence Transparency and Accountability Act
The Foreign Influence Transparency and Accountability Act (FITAA) came into force on August 4, 2026. FITAA establishes an obligation for individuals or organizations to register any arrangements with foreign principals intended to influence a political or governmental process in Canada. The Act applies to processes at all levels – municipal, provincial\territorial, and federal.
The registry aims to ensure that activities aimed at influencing political and governmental processes are visible to Canadians.
The Foreign Influence Transparency Commissioner is holding information sessions for municipalities on October 6 at 11:00 a.m. in English, and on October 7 at 11:00 a.m. in French.
