Foreign Influence Transparency webinar
The Foreign Influence Transparency and Accountability Act (FITAA) came into force on August 4, 2026. The legislation requires individuals and organizations to register arrangements with foreign principals when activities are intended to influence political or governmental decision-making in Canada.
The requirements apply to all orders of government, including municipal governments. The registry is intended to increase transparency by making foreign-influence activities visible to Canadians.
To help municipalities understand the new legislation and registration requirements, the Office of the Foreign Influence Transparency Commissioner is offering two upcoming information sessions:
