Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Technology, this is a hybrid role that combines the strategic design and administration of data systems with the analytical and reporting responsibilities of a data analyst. This role’s primary responsibility as the Data Architect / Reporting Analyst is to be accountable for establishing and supporting ongoing governance, processes, tools, technology, and workflows to manage and ensure data quality, security, ingestion, processing, visualization, and consumption. You will be the primary driver and implementer of Data Excellence, Systems Integration, and Reporting and Analytics in the organization.

 

Know-How

Practical/ Technical Knowledge

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Business Technology, Computing Sciences, Business Intelligence or another relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience, of which at least 5 are in Data Architecture, data analysis or business intelligence.
  • Experience with database management, data sourcing, modeling, enterprise application integration, development, backup and archival strategies, and ETL Tool Sets.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Experience with BI (i.e. Power BI, Tableau) and other Data Science domains.
  • Must have senior experience with Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Azure Data Lake, and Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse technology stack.
  • Must have demonstrated success in similar roles and the ability to effectively communicate and work with people.
  • Experience working in an environment that uses a hybrid delivery model: internal and cloud delivery.
  • Relevant Microsoft SQL and Azure data certifications would be an asset:
    • MCSA SQL – BI
    • MCSA SQL – Server
    • MCSE Data Management
    • Azure DP-900, DP-500, DP-300

Responsibilities

  • Create and drive the organization data strategy.
  • Create and drive the organization data governance.
  • Design and implement effective data solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
  • Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.
  • Implement, support, and maintain system integrations.
  • Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations.
  • Determine database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems.
  • Install database systems by developing flowcharts and network diagrams; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions.
  • Maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development issues; configuring optimum values for performance; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance.
  • Maintain, support, and enhance the business intelligence data backend, including data warehouses.
  • Lead and provide technical guidance for the design and implementation of data storage and governance systems.
  • Design and monitor end-user reporting tools and systems, ensuring reports are accurate and up to date.
  • Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
  • Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features.
  • Recommend solutions to improve existing and new database systems.
  • Provide support as required by responding to and supporting resolution of system problems as a priority and working with managed service providers on problem resolution and system improvements.
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support business decision-making.
  • Translate business requirements into clear and scalable technical reporting specifications.
  • Support ad hoc reporting needs across departments, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Provide training and support to end users on reporting tools and data best practices.
  • Promote and support data literacy initiatives across the organization to empower data-driven culture.
  • Self-educate on industry updates i.e., read industry publications, maintain personal networks, participate in professional organizations, participate in educational opportunities
