Update from the Legislature - November 10

The legislature is on a constituency break this week. Session will resume on Monday, November 15.

New Minister:

Amid concerns over his personal conduct, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Devin Dreeshen resigned his portfolio to “focus on my mental health and wellness”.  He has been replaced by Drumheller-Stettler MLA Nate Horner, who assumed responsibility as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Economic Development on November 5. Dreeshen will remain MLA for the constituency of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake.

Red Tape Reduction Annual Report Released:

On Thursday the province released the annual Red Tape Reduction Report. AUMA was pleased to comment on red tape reduction efforts related to the Municipal Stimulus Program.

Covid-19 Vaccination Progress:

As of November 8, 87.6% of eligible Albertans had received one dose of vaccine, and 81.4% were fully vaccinated.
