Update from the Legislature - Nov 25
Provincial budget submission
The fall legislative session continues this week. The Legislature is scheduled to rise for the year on December 3. However, given the volume of legislation and the progress to date, there is a reasonable probability the session will extend into the week of December 6.
On November 24, AUMA wrote to President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance Travis Toews to outline our principle-based priorities for the upcoming provincial budget. We made three straightforward asks:
- stable, predictable long-term funding;
- partnership in economic growth and recovery; and
- avoiding transferring costs and responsibilities.
We encourage members to amplify this message by raising it with their MLAs. We also encourage you to complete the Government of Alberta’s online budget survey, which is available until next Friday, December 4.
